Do You Know Me?
My name’s Rick to most of my friends from Parris Island. I arrived at Parris Island in May 1977 and got out of the Corps May 1979. I stayed out for a year and nine months before getting married and going back in. I retired 1 September 2006 as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps after 30 years of active service. I have tried so hard to find friends of mine, but with little success. You may feel the same way. That’s why I am working hard to provide as much information as possible to people who want to find friends or former comrades.
While I was at Parris Island, I worked at the Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) as a Sergeant. I rode a red Kawasaki KZ650 motorcycle from May-Dec 1977. After that, I rode a green 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 (pictured below). I rode with Clarence Lee from Mississippi for a while. After he transferred, I rode with Charles Blount (pictured below with me and Patrick Kelly). I really miss all of my friends from there. I had more fun then than any other time in the Marine Corps. I guess I was just a bit more carefree.
